Nicole Miller’s Dark Paradise (Part 3)

This week’s theme is Nicole Miller, an American designer who’s perfectly able to recreate a Dark Paradise through her Autumn/Winter collection.

Her dresses are just lovely and that’s why I decided to focus on them for this Top 3.

Here, second (http://wp.me/p2X2CO-it) and third (http://wp.me/p2X2CO-iq) places, if you’d like to know them (Do! Do!)

Anyway, today’s Thursday which means Winner’s Day, which means it’s time for me to introduce you to the first position.

Here you go!

C_NicoleMiller_Autum-Winter20134_ReadyToWear

3)   Look C. OMG! I love it! Don’t you think it melts perfectly with the last leaves of the trees during fall? Wow, with this, you’d surely become Lady Autumn. You know what that makes you? The owner of the season, of course!

  • Palette: Black, beige, blue, salmon, olive.
  • Collar: Traditional chemise like collar with flounces on the buttons as it descends. This creates a vertical line that divides the body into two making her look thinner. Also, the presence of the line lengthens the body.
  • Skirt Cut: The skirt is a high cut skirt (up to the waist) or so it seems because of the belt. This marks the waist so everything doesn’t go super loose and, also, helps the fall of the fabric. The skirt is asymmetric, as you might notice, meaning it’s shorter in the front and longer behind. This creates a fabulous effect when you’re walking (like you’re caressing the air) and makes you look taller too!
  • Pattern:  Floral. Fabulous. Perfect. This pattern is smaller than the one of the previous look (-), so you don’t have to fear looking thicker.
  • Sleeves: Or, in this case, the lack of them. Sleeveless dresses and blouses tend to make us look thinner and taller, because they focus the attention of the viewer on the central part of the body (chest, torso, waist, hips, legs).

Well, that was our winner! Do you agree? Let me know what you think!

That was it for this week’s Top 3, crazy diamonds! I hope you enjoyed Nicole Miller’s creations as much as I did!

Shine all over and dream on because, believe it or not, it’s super fun! : D

Take Care. Lotta Love. Ciao!

Nicole Miller’s Dark Paradise (Part 2)

Yesterday we started speaking about Nicole Miller, an American designer who surely does know how to portrait the essence of Autumn/Winter: by bringing us to her dark paradise.

Last post presented the third place (http://wp.me/p2X2CO-iq) a beautiful black gown made especially for Nicole Miller’s army of angels. Today, however, we’ll go to a completely different place.

Ready to meet the second position?

B_NicoleMiller_Autum-Winter20134_ReadyToWear

2)   Look B. This dress is a fantasy. It looks comfy yet chic and original. Sort of tomboy but still, feminine. Perfect for talking a walk around central park, isn’t it?

  • Palette: G R E E N, Olive and Emerald (Speaking of emerald, this shade of green is THE colour of the year. You DID know that, right?)
  • Collar: Traditional chemise like collar in olive green. Brings just the right amount of light to her face.
  • Cut: Straight cut perfect for any women; whether you’re curvy or not, this will fit you perfectly. It hides any bumps if any and sort of unifies the body.
  • Pattern:  The pattern is beautiful and, definitely, perfect for the season. Remember, thought, that patterns as big as this can make you look larger, so careful with them.
  • Edge: The bottom edge is super sexy because it resembles the bottom edge of a chemise and makes everyone think it is, in fact, a chemise, when, well, it isn’t.

Agree? Not agree? Like it better than the previous one? Don’t miss the winner tomorrow!

It’s time to leave, crazy diamonds! But you go on shinning all over and dreaming on like I know you do. It’s the best choice for today, really.

Take Care. Lotta Love. Ciao!

Nicole Miller’s Dark Paradise (Part 1)

Whenever I think of Autumn-Winter I can’t help but to bring to my mind all sorts of dim lighted landscapes. It’s a natural thing, though. The season calls for it.

Nicole Miller knows it and that’s why her Autumn-Winter 2013/4 Ready-To-Wear collection is ready to take us to her Dark Paradise.

What I loved the most of the latest runway show of this American designer were her dresses, and that’s why they compose my Top 3. Want to see them?

Ok, you guys!

Here’s the third place:

A_NicoleMiller_Autum-Winter20134_ReadyToWear

1)   Look A. Ok, you see I meant it when I said dark paradise? This is what an angel looks like in there!

  • Palette: B L A C K
  • Cleavage: Long “V” cleavage that brings light to the models face, lengthens her neck, and makes her look taller and thinner. (This “Long ‘V’ cleavages are magic, aren’t they?) The effect is reinforced by the outline of the cleavage made of a darker shade of black.
  • Sleeves: Or, in this case, the lack of them. Sleeveless dresses and blouses tend to make us look thinner and taller, because they focus the attention of the viewer on the central part of the body (chest, torso, waist, hips, legs).
  • Skirt: High cut (up to the waist) to mark it. Its purpose is to give the illusion of a longer and leaner body, enlarge the hips and make the fabric fall as fabulously as it does. It’s high lightened by the belt in a darker shade of gray (that joins the cleavage outline).
  • Fabric: Vaporous. As an angel’s dress should be.

So? Agree with the third place? Wait to see the next one!

Have a wonderful day, crazy diamonds! Remember to shine all over and dream on because the world needs some real jewelry in movement like, well, us ; )

Take Care. Lotta Love. Ciao!

Oscar de la Renta: My Kind of Fashion (Part 3)

Aló!

Isn’t it exciting? It’s Thursday already! Which means we’ll be enjoying our weekends in short! (and, of course, in a very fashionable way)

Ready to see the winner of my Oscar De La Renta’s Prefall 2013 Collection?

Take a look!

DeLaRenta_Prefall2013

3) Look C.

Blouse: Pink and fantastic, honestly. The volume it’s got disguises stomach bumps if any, and the neck detail frames our necks making them look longer. The buttons right in the middle mark the symmetry and make us look slimmer and taller (yes, all that just with buttons in the middle). NOTE: When wearing a blouse, bring a huge necklace along so it divides your body and give the illusion of a thinner you.

Skirt: Same cut as the one on the first look: not too loosen and not too tight. Must be worn right below the ribs so it makes our torso look longer (and therefore, we look taller and slimmer, VERY important when wearing horizontal lines).

Jacket: Short sleeved, horizontal lines and framing the center so it seems the center is all there is (meaning, people’s minds think we’re as thin as the portion of our blouse showing). Dark colour to make us look thinner. Damn, these designers know everything! Shoes? Pointy heels, of course.

What do you think? Do you agree with my top 3? Did you like the winner?

Check out 3rd and 2nd place!

3rd: http://wp.me/p2X2CO-cZ

2nd:http://wp.me/p2X2CO-d3

I have to go but it was lovely to be read by you, crazy diamonds! Shine all over and dream on because the world is short on little sunshines like you!

Take Care. Lotta Love. See you soon!

Oscar de la Renta: My Kind of Fashion (Part 2)

Previous Post: http://wp.me/p2X2CO-cZ

Hi, hi! How are you doing today, huh? Me? Fantastic!

Time to carry on with the best looks of Oscar de la Renta’s Prefall 2013 Collection! Ready to see the second place? I am!

ODeLaRenta_Prefall2013

2) Look B.

Chemise: The chemise is a wise and safe choice for anyone. A white shirt is always a must, and one like this, with the round neckline and the little “v” aperture at the top and vertical pleats (to make us look longer and thinner) is a gift sent from God, or should I say Oscar de la Renta?

Necklace: Big necklaces are a good idea most of the times, why? Because they divide our torso vertically making us look taller and thinner, and, if the one you have ends like this, right on top of your belly button, helps dissimulate any bumps if any.

Jacket: The jacket is beautiful! The colours (blue and emerald – the colour of 2013) are perfect because, remember, darker colours make us look slimmer! The cut is great because it isn’t too tight and the green edges serve the purpose of creating an imaginary extra layer to stylize the whole look. Note: Jackets make you look fitter most of the time because they limit the amount of shirt to notice, meaning they create an optical illusion that make people believe you’re as thin as the portion of chemise showing!

Pants: Classical cut enlarging the hips (to make our waists look smaller) and embracing the legs (though giving them space). What for? To make us look taller. Classical pointy heels are the right shoes for this outfit, though it may vary.

Belt: Intelligent accessory that divides our bodies one more time and mark the symmetry of the outfit (the main piece is right in the middle).

Great for a second place, isn’t it? Imagine the first one!!!!

Have a great day, my Crazy Diamonds! And, you know, shine all over and dream on even when you don’t feel like it, you know why? Because that’s what you’re meant to do, and if you do what you’re meant to do, you’ll always feel better.

Gotta go but see you soon, alright?

Take Care. Lotta Love. Ciao!

Oscar de la Renta: My Kind of Fashion (Part 1)

Hey, there!

Have you seen Oscar de la Renta’s Prefall 2013 Collection?

Oh! It’s to die for!

It’s sort of preppy yet cosmopolite and ladylike but modern. Definitely, my kind of fashion.

Here’s the third place of my Top 3:

OscarDeLaRenta_Prefall2013

1) Look A. Mainly black, of course.

Sweater: The cut is perfect because it’s got a long yet closed V cleavage which makes our necks look longer, and the kind of sleeves (with a small end) make our arms look longer and leaner (thanks, too, to the material used because it adheres to our bodies). The buttons in the middle are always a good idea because they split our torso into two and make us look thinner.

Skirt: Up to the waist to make us look taller and slimmer, illusion reinforced by the belt. Seems to be shorter because the lighter colors at the end, so we actually think the garment ends where the black does. It’s not too open or too close to de body, which is actually perfect. Also, it’s got some sort of “A” cut, which gives us more movement and adds our walking playfulness. Oh! And it hides any bumps if any.

Stockings: LOVE THEM. They complement perfectly the patterns on the skirt and sort of merge with the classic & simple pointy heels.

What do you say? Like it so far? You’ve got to see the rest!

Have a lovely day, Crazy Diamonds! Shine all over, dream on and do all those things that make you happy. Let’s seize the day.

Take Care. Lotta Love. See you soon. Ciao!

Marchesa: The Prom Queen has arrived

“If Fashion Week is like high school,

Marchesa is the prom queen.”

-Voguepedia

It’s New Year’s Eve today and you don’t know what to wear? Take a look at Marchesa!

So you’re walking around Manhattan following your customary path to your favorite coffee shop at Central Park, right at Columbus Circle. All of a sudden, around the 36th, you realize there’s more traffic than usual, so you wonder what may be going on. As you approach the Upper Manhattan, the air gets thicker, filled with the most marvelous scents: a mixture of peonies, jasmine, magnolia (Chanel nº5? Miss Dior?), lace, silk and ribbons. Could it be? You check your agenda. OMG! Checking twice just to be sure. Is it time already? You take out your smartphone and tap on the VOGUE app. Yes, your senses had it right: The Fashion Week is here.

Why is Fashion Week like Prom? Because both of them are the most important events in their inner circles, and just like almost every high school girl dreams of the perfect Prom night, every fashionista waits quite impatiently for the next Fashion Week (C’mon, lets face it, we have more Fashion Weeks than high school girls have their beloved Prom). What’s is it about these events that makes them so desired? Well, they make every girl feel like living a Fairytale.

Beauty is one of the strongest magic spells we can be victims of. Think about how you feel when you see your favorite flower, a sunset across the fields or the sea or the mountains, a genius photography or a perfect tableau, a gorgeous dress, the face of the man of your dreams… For some reason, during this two events everything beautifies to the point were we’re practically doped by the atmosphere; everyone’s happy and smiling and laughing so we’re happy and smiling and laughing as well.

Why is Marchesa like the Prom Queen? Because “she doesn’t even have to compete like everyone else—she just prettily reigns, laughing and waving naturally all the way down the runway in her custom Louboutins.” (Voguepedia) The proof is at its Spring –Summer 2013 Collection, as juvenile and cheering as ever.

What do you say? Shall we take a look? Welcome the Top Three:

1

1) Look A. White swan! Didn’t you think of “Swan Lake” when you first saw this? Or maybe, I don’t know, the first flower of spring! I mean, just look at that dress! So fresh, so clean, so innocent & so pure. The high-waist cut makes every single woman look fitter and taller with longer legs, not just the pretty mannequin. The lace at the top makes the dress a work of art, look at those details! I love how, even though it shows a lot of skin, it doesn’t look vulgar at all. The fabric is just perfect for the season; see how it is super weightless and how well it reflects light? Spring is about going out of our homes to enjoy fine weather and be free! This outfit certainly inspires freedom.

2

2) Look B. WOW! Far too beautiful to be true! These fringes are magic!!! Not only they dissimulate the little stomach bump you may have, they also add a delicate enchanting movement to your average walking. Have I ever mentioned how I totally love the “Charleston Girl” look? Wow, it’s like “Swan Lake” (yes, again) meets “Singing In The Rain” with a tsarine mode on. The lace detail at the neck takes care of any accessories we may need; and see how it goes all the way just below the belly button? That makes our body look longer, slimmer and equilibrated (because it breaks the dress vertically into two). It’s short but not too short and MY! Look at those shoes! Love at first sight does exist; I just fell for this outfit.

3

3) Look C. Say what? You don’t want to be the center of attention? I’m sorry, because with this dress, you’ll turn EVERY HEAD. Again, high-waist cut and fringes, and yes, you’ll seem taller, slimmer and (if that is possible), classier. The golden edges reflect the light to your face, so you look happier. Look at the fabric fringes! See how they turn and fall? They will hide the waist you may not have and will give you the hips you’d love to. It’s sort of futuristic with a pinch of Art Nouveau, and of course, VERY elegant.

So, what is it I love about Marchesa? Unlike the usual Prom Queen, her dresses can be worn by ANYONE (who can afford them), meaning your body shape doesn’t matter because the clothes adapt to it. That’s genius to me; I strongly believe clothes have to adjust to us, not the other way around. Bravo, Marchesa!

Well, at the end of this post I can happily say I added a new label to my list of favorites, and you?

I hope you’re shining all over and dreaming on, crazy diamonds! Take care, lotta love, ciao!!! And Happy New Year’s Eve!

Michael Kors: The Fatal Temptation (Part 4)

Aside

C

3) Look C. Hello, Hollywood! Love the strapless cut. The bikini-like detail on top contrasts perfectly with the model’s skin and sends the attention to the bare chest and shoulders. It’s a quite simple dress but works in delineating the silhouette of the body. The belt on the waist marks it, so we know how teeny tinny it is; this is actually an important accessory because the pattern makes the model look bigger than she really is (patterns can be dangerous with the wrong cut). Don’t believe me? Look at her belly… This is an excellent option if you have little hips. Again, gloves and pointy shoes to complete the diva look. Very nice.

Well, that was it chères readers! I hope you liked this week’s post and fell for Michael’s modern and cosmopolite style!

Which collection do you prefer? Fall-Winter 2012/13 or Prefall 2013?

Shine all over and dream on, crazy diamonds! See you soon! Take Care. Lotta Love. Ciao!
